Maclaren Stroller Recall
Maclaren, the manufacturer of a popular umbrella
stroller has been linked to cause a dozen fingertip amputations
in children all across the globe. In response to this, Maclaren
has issued a recall of approximately 1-million baby strollers
and are offering repair kits to customers, as of Monday,
November 9th 2009.
Every Maclaren single and double strollers sold since 1999 are
affected by the recall, which was publicly released Monday by
Maclaren USA and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The hinge device on the stroller’s hardware puts a child at risk
of fingertip amputation when unfolding or opening the stroller.

Consumers may contact Maclaren to receive a hinge cover, which
is easy to install and is an effective solution to the dangerous
hinge problem, according to Consumer Product Safety Commission
spokeswoman Patty Davis.
Maclaren states:
“Safety is our first priority and through this voluntary effort
we urge consumers to contact us immediately to obtain the kit
which consists of hinge covers designed specifically to fit all
Maclaren strollers. Maclaren stresses all operators read the
instruction manual prior to use which contains valuable safety
tips and service recommendations.”
